Pink (P!nk) Biography
While originally deemed as one more singer in the late - '90s audience of young adult popmusic acts, Pink (also known as P!nk) rapidly exceeded and grew out of that label with her blend of pop songwriting and tremendous, rock-influenced vocals. Born as Alecia Moore on September 8, 1979, in Doylestown, PA, Pink got her nickname as a youngster, many years before she colored her locks appropriately. She matured in a musical household and was a constant on the Philadelphia club scene by the age of 13, as a dancer at first and then as a vocal background for 'Schoolz of Thought', who were the local hip-hop group at that time. She began writing her own music and songs at the young age of fourteen, and that very same the same year, a local DJ from Club Fever started having her come her up on the stage every Friday so that she could sing a song.
Pink was eyed at chance by a MCA Records executive, who told her about 'Basic Instinct', a rythym and blues group, and asked her to audition. Even though her strong vocals got her the job, the group didn't fair that well and ended quite abruptly. Quite soon after than, she was grabbed up a trio of women named Choice who where also a Rhythm and Blues group. They ended up signing to L.A. Reid and Babyface's LaFace label on the greatness of their demo; however, they too broke up because of differences and arguments over musical direction of the trio... Full PINK Biography
